For all those Secret Garden Party lovers, today is not a good day.
Many went to sleep last night with excitement as the SGP team posted a message declaring that March 2nd was going to bring some BIG news.
Most woke up, however, in sadness as they read a message from the Head Gardener himself, Freddie Fellowes, declaring 2017 will mark the end of Secret Garden Party.
'I concede to the infamous phase that 'All good things must come to an end', and so it is, i announce today that this summer will host the last Secret Garden Party as we all know it.'
He went on to say,
'This isn’t some principled self-immolation: this is opening it up for new forms in the future. So this summer will be the almighty send-off that The Garden Party deserves and whilst that is going to cause some tears to be shed, think of it more as ‘Dylan goes electric’ than our Altamont.'
SGP was set up 15 years ago as a gathering at the bottom of a garden and since has not only expanded in numbers, but has seen big acts such as 'Jungle', 'Fat Freddy's Drop' and many more headline the festival.
This summer SGP will take place on 20th July - 23rd July with headlining acts: Crystal Fighters; Metromony and Toots & The Maytals.
