'Just Eat It!' is a student-led project run by Bristol Hub that aims to tackle food waste by reclaiming food and turning it into delicious meals. They aim to encourage people to increase their awareness of food waste and the negative effect that it has on creating a sustainable world. The passionate committee and motivated volunteers hope to challenge your conception of waste food and show that food destined for bins can be reclaimed and turned into fresh, healthy meals. They also hope to bring to light how much edible food is being thrown away every single day.
Their first Pop-up café was seriously successful and included not just a continuous steady supply of home cooked food but included a talk form the founder of The Real Junk Food Project in Birmingham and two performances by Bristol students singing and playing guitar in the small, intimate space of the multi faith Chaplaincy.
Throughout 2016/17 they'll be holding several pop-up cafe events, serving up delicious rescued food, all for a pay-as-you-feel rate with the promise of even more than just a steaming plate of delicious, freshly cooked food.
They are also looking to expand and diversify into other venues and introduce you to a new way of eating. With many tricks up their sleeve and with the energy and passion that exudes from the committee and their fantastic team leader, Rosy Scholes, you can bet there will be exciting things in store for Bristol’s bin-destined food.
