"Would you suck a **** to climb higher in the fashion industry?"

"Would you suck a **** to climb higher in the fashion industry?"

A few weeks ago I was offered a position to work as a fashion intern, unpaid, for a month, for one of the leading talent magazines in England. Elated at having obtained my desired internship for the summer, after my first day I had to tell them I would not be returning.

It’s my first and last day. The magazine’s fashion editor and my new boss (who dresses like shit), orders me and a new intern with the not unusual task of taking a suitcase across London for a photoshoot.

The shoot, however, was nothing like I had expected. On the top floor of a disordered apartment where the model has literally just turned 16, my new boss sits me and the other intern down and tells us to "stop being boring, talk about ourselves, and let me ask some questions?”

Here are the questions which stood out most in my mind.

"Have you ever kissed a guy?”

“Have you ever sucked a d**k?” (X3)

“Would you suck a d**k to climb higher in the fashion industry?”

“How many people have you slept with?”

“Has your girlfriend ever licked your d**k?”

“Is your house at university a swinger house?”

“How many of your friend's girlfriends have you l****d out?”

The experience did not make me lose faith in working in fashion or working for a magazine but in people. How the fuck has someone like that become successful in their field? This is a question I do not know the answer to but a question which more people need to think about and act upon, in the wake of world famous fashion photographer Mario Testino only just being charged with sexual exploitation at the age of 63.  And finally, if this does happen to you DO NOT STAND FOR IT.
