Art Intermission

Art Intermission

In the run up to our next event More Than x Helicon x Inter:Mission : Painting By Numbers, we meet the artists getting involved.

KIMI ZOET: Painting and Drawing.

What do you study?

I study History of Art.

What inspires you and what are your interests?

I’m inspired by everyday life. I feel like my daily routine has always got a surprise in it. I’m also really inspired by music; when I listen to it as I draw, the sound, rhthym and lyrics energise me which has an influence on my work. What are my interests? I love playing the piano, I used to like to act but that’s kind of gone, I like to run…. I actually really like to organize events, which is really surprising considering I am one of the most disorganized and frantic people in the world.

Could you associate yourself with a particular genre or artist?

I’d like to put myself somewhere in-between German expressionism and surrealism. My favorite artist? I’ve got loads its difficult to choose um…. At the moment I love Mark Chagall, who creates colorful paintings that let your imagination run wild.

Have you ever performed live art before?

No this is going to be my first time.

What do you try to communicate through your work?

I think it depends on my mood. I tell stories through my work… Often I will be inspired by an idea for a story and how I decide to illustrate it will depend on my mood. I want my art to act as a window into my thoughts.

What do you hope to do after uni?

I want to be an artist.

What made you get involved with the event?

I do genuinely think its a really cool idea - it is so much more fun, inspiring and exhilirating to be able to go to an event and be exposed to young aspiring artists as oposed to another night in a club.
